The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) took on the final race of the season Sunday, Nov. 6, at Phoenix Raceway in Phoenix Arizona. Being the last race of the season, this also means that the four playoff drivers were fighting for a series championship.

After 312 laps, Joey Logano won the race as well as his second NASCAR Cup Series Championship making him the seventeenth driver to win multiple championships in their career. Four drivers were competing for a championship alongside Joey Logano for a championship they finished: Ross Chastain who finished 3rd in the race and second in the playoff standings, Christopher bell who finished 10th in the race and 3rd in the playoff standings, and Chase Elliot who finished 28th in the race and 4th in the playoff standings.

After Logano’s win, he said that, “It’s all about championships. That’s what its all about, and we worked so hard the last couple weeks trying to put ourselves in position.” Joey Logano is also the first driver to win the championship in the same year as his car number hinting at the quote “22 in ’22.”

All drivers and teams will pack up for the offseason and get ready for the Daytona 500 on Feb. 19, 2023.
