Renovated library open to students after wait

By JORDAN JONES, Staff Writer

The newly renovated Bill H. Hill Library is now open for students. For the past three years, the top two floors of the library building were shut down due to renovations. These renovations included new furniture, study rooms, a coffee area, and two computer labs.

According to eosc.edu, “The library’s collection has over 38,000 books in open stacks, and it subscribes to over 200 magazines and newspapers available to students in a comfortable reading area. The collection features an impressive number of materials concerning Native American  culture and history.” There is also still a cultural lab being installed in the library that will house and showcase local artists and crafts.

The library hours are 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on  Fridays. As well as, 4 p.m.-10 p.m. most Sundays. Students can also schedule appointments for online tests and other needs on the eosc.edu website.  Students have already begun using the private study rooms that are now available. They include whiteboard desks that are easy to write down information on. Maria Martinez, Director of  Library Services, says an online program to reserve the study rooms will be available soon. On Sept. 5-8, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the library will be hosting a Library Expo. This will present the new library and its new resources and materials. There will also be door prizes, games, and drawings for an Amazon gift card ranging from fifty to a hundred dollars.  For more information regarding the library or its services please contact library@eosc.edu or  918-465-1875.
