Ag to induct Dr. Bill Hill into Hall of Fame

By JORDAN JONES, Staff Writer

The EOSC Ag Hall of Fame is an annual event that honors an individual who has made an
outstanding impact to the Ag Division. This year’s inductee is Dr. Bill Hill.
Dr. Bill Hill is a 1961 graduate of Eastern. He then continued on to Oklahoma State University
for his bachelor’s degree in agriculture, a master’s degree in computer science and then his
doctorate in higher education from Texas A&M University.
Hill then taught vocational agriculture and science courses at a high school level before
becoming a part of the computer science staff at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. Later,
he became the Chief Executive Officer at the Kiamichi Development District of Oklahoma,
where he stayed for 17 years.
After this, he returned to his alma mater and became the 14th president of EOSC in 1986.
Throughout his 14 years here, Eastern saw outstanding growth and prosperity. Hill was able to
establish a partnership with Eastern and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was also
able to form connections with Mcalester bankers and philanthropists, which led to the creation of
the Mcalester Eastern Campus.
Hill is the youngest member to ever be inducted into the Oklahoma Education Hall of Fame and
is honored at Eastern by the Bill Hill Library and Administration Building.
The Agricultural Hall of Fame celebration will be held on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. It will be in the
Goddard Building and The Great Divide’s Mike Mclure will be the entertainment for the
evening. For more information regarding the event please contact Larriann Livingston at
