Eastern’s annual Library Expo took place Sept. 16-19 and had many activities for students to participate in throughout the week. The activities were educational and fun, but they also gave students the opportunity to play for door and freebie prizes.

The library staff hosted the event, that had a home base in the Student Center cafeteria, each day during the lunch hour. Daily small activities were scheduled to do during that hour.

The scavenger hunt began on Monday and was all around campus. The library staff puts on some sort of scavenger hunt a the event each year. The scavenger hunt sends students around campus with clues and helps them learn more about what’s on campus. The grand prize for the scavenger hunt was an Amazon gift card for $100. On Tuesday, the activity was to take selfies with nature. Then on Wednesday, there was a fishing pond game for books in the cafeteria. Finally, on Thursday, they had a place to make s’mores and do children book puzzles.

“The library expo was a way to show students about the library resources and the campus,” Director of Library Media Services Maria Martinez said.

Everyone, including staff and faculty, had a chance to participate in the activities if they wanted. All participants had an amazing time with the event, and everyone is ready for next year’s library expo.
