On Thursday, Sept. 21, the second scholar reception presented by the Alumni Association was held at Eastern’s Mcalester campus. Being much smaller than the one held in Wilburton, around 40 people were attending.

There were free snacks and drinks as well as five door prizes given out including three gift cards to the bookstore and two steak dinners with the president of the university.

“This year, we are trying to accommodate more students in the McAlester and other areas by having another option available,” said Teresa Brady, executive director of the EOSC Foundation and Alumni Relations. “We are excited to offer this option.”

Three major scholarships were presented to students. Caitlin Hirst was awarded the Dr. Henry Migliore Endowed Scholarship, the Sapphire Ball Endowed Scholarship was awarded to Joshua Vega and Brett Hoffman received the Otha Grimes Scholarship.

Many other scholarships are offered through the Alumni Association and Foundation Board, including ones for institutional, room, and board waiver. Eastern provided nearly $728,000 in scholarships this year, and awarded over 200 students. To join the Alumni Association, there is an annual fee of $25 or a lifetime membership for $200. For any questions about joining, the scholarships or the association in general, please contact Teresa Brady by email at tbrady@eosc.edu or by phone at 918-465-1761.
