Always start with your instructor if you have a question or complaint

Are you having trouble understanding what you are supposed to be doing in class? If you are not, that is amazing, but if you ever do here are the steps you need to take to get the problem solved.

If you ever happen to have a problem in class or with a professor, your first step is to go talk to the instructor that you are having the problem with. In fact, according to Professor Kristen Turner, this is usually the only step needed to resolve the problem.

“I think a lot of issues that students seem to have simply boils down to miscommunication,” Turner explains. “Most of the time a problem, question, or misunderstanding can be solved by simply talking with your instructor.”

The instructor’s email address should be on the class syllabus along with their office phone number.

However, if the issue can’t be resolved, the second step is to talk to the instructor’s supervisor, which would be the dean of that certain department. If a resolution can not be found, the final step is to talk to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Patricia Ratliff. You can contact her via e-mail, or by phone at (918) 465-1830.

Everyone at Eastern Oklahoma State College hopes you never have to ever use these steps, but if these problems ever appear, just remember always go talk to your professor. So many problems can be solved with just that one simple step. All teachers are required to have office hours posted on their class syllabus.
